Tell us a little about yourself:
I’ve been physically active off and on since high school (mostly off). I’ve lifted weights, run, dieted, etc. I have pictures of me at around 300 pounds when I was 45. But I started running and controlling my diet at 51. I ran 4 marathons and got down to 220 pounds. But Crossfit is an entirely different thing. I can’t imagine doing without it. I’m all in.What made you start CrossFit Gardendale?
I started because of my son’s love for Crossfit and because I hoped the intensity would give me the final push I needed to get my 5K time under 20 minutes.Describe your first workout?
After about 2 months of Crossfit, Carrie programmed a Saturday WOD that included 400 meter farmer’s carries with 2 - 45 lb. plates. I’ve never forgiven her for that. What goals have you accomplished so far?
235 lb clean and jerk
V-ups (not great)
Chest to bar
I’m able to RX a lot of the words. It’s hard to explain what that means to me.
Making the games in the newly formed 70+ age group.
Beating Marc Phillips in ANYTHING..
Jump in head first! Don’t worry about what you look like. Go as hard as you can. Get used to being sore, it’s one of the best feelings in the world.
