Tell us a little about yourself:
I am married to my beautiful wife Brooke for 11 years and we have 2 little boys that are 8 & 5. I attend Gloryland Baptist church and am very active in my church. I am a construction project manager for H&M Mechanical in Birmingham, AL. One of my favorite things to do is hanging out with my family and friends. What made you start CrossFit Gardendale?
Well I went to the doctor in January for a check up and it wasn't a good visit. The doc wanted to put me on a bunch of medicine because of health concerns.. I was 33 and 320lbs of slob with high blood pressure and high cholesterol. I refuse to take any medicine so the doc told me I needed to do a serious health change. That's when I realized this life isn't about me and that I have 3 people who depend and want me around (wife and kids) so that's when I joined CrossFit Gardendale and it changed and possibly saved my life!Describe your first workout?
It was horrible!!!!! I thought I was gonna die!! My exact thought was "I can't believe I actually paid for this to happen to me!!" I am not sure what the workout was, I just wanted it to stop!!What goals have you accomplished so far?
One of my Goals I wanted was to do a 5K obstacle coarse and to compete in a CrossFit competition. I have done both and finished in the top 10 in both. What goals do you plan to accomplish?
Before my 1 year mark at CrossFit I want to do a ring muscle up and a bar muscle up!! I'm almost there!!What hobbies or things do you like to do other than CrossFit?
I have always loved working out, sports, hunting, fishing and anything outdoors. What, if anything, has changed in your life since joining CrossFit Gardendale?
My way of eating and of course my way of exercise!! Both have become a priority!!What advice would you give to any new members?
I used to think CrossFit was a joke and they didn't know what working out was!! Boy was I wrong!! If you think CrossFit is for people who can't make it in a real gym or it's a cult you are so wrong. It is a community of people who support you, cheer you on, pushes you and brings out the best in you!! CrossFit teaches you to push through the fatigue and mental blocks. Give it a try and you will be hooked!!!
