Tell us a little about yourself:
I'm married to Jonathan Fox, I'm a mom to 3 very rambunctious kids and I work as a legal assistant for a lawfirm in B'ham.
What made you start CrossFit Gardendale? My husband asked me to watch him participate in the 2016 Open, after the first Friday Night Lights I was hooked and knew that I wanted to become a member of that kind of community. Everyone was so encouraging and the atmosphere was electric! I was 100% apprehensive though, up until On-Ramp I had never touched a barbell! That was well over a year ago and I've never looked back!
Describe your first workout? My first official WOD was an open gym WOD. I don't remember all the other movements, I just remember it included 25 burpees at the end of the it and I literally thought my lungs were going to give out before it was over. My most memorable was participating in Murph (I completed 1/2 Murph) last year & this year. My 2018 goal is complete the full Murph.
What goals have you accomplished so far?Well, I've ran a mile without stopping, I participated in the 2017 Open, I've RX'd a couple of WODs, and set some barbell PR's that really surprised me, haha.
What goals do you plan to accomplish?I would love to get better at running, be able to do a kipping pull-up/toe to bar & get better at snatches/overhead squats.
What advice would you give to any new members?Go all in!! Throw caution to the wind and sign up for On-Ramp. I promise you won't regret it. My physical health is not the only thing that has benefited from being a member of CFG, my mentality of what my body is capable of has changed and wow the family/friends I've made at the box!! You can have that experience too.
