Name: Brad Savage
Tell us a little about yourself:
I have been married for almost seven years and have two kids. I have a 4 year old little girl and a boy who is 6 months old. I'm a firefighter for the City of Birmingham and I own a small lawn care business. I STARTED lifting weights in my early teens and immediately became border line obsessed with being in a weight room. As I got older, between work and spending time with my family and kids I just couldn't quite find the time to be consistent with it and became bored and lacked the motivation to workout. What made you start CrossFit Gardendale?
I got a new job assignment in the fire service and being out of shape just wasn't cutting it. Luke Ahl had been pestering me about CrossFit for close to two years. I decided I would give it a shot and due to my competitive nature I was hooked right from the start.Describe your first workout?
I don't remember what it was but it just about killed me. After catching my breath and realizing that I wasn't gonna die I couldn't wait for the next day to do it all over again. What goals have you accomplished so far?
I haven't really set a lot of goals so far just simply continue to put in the work and try to get better each time I walk in the gym. What goals do you plan to accomplish?
I would like to improve mobility and form on all of the Olympic lifts. What hobbies or things do you like to do other than CrossFit?
If it's not hunting season what else is there lol.... on a serious note anything that involves being outdoors. What, if anything, has changed in your life since joining CrossFit Gardendale?
I feel like I'm in the best shape of my life. I have developed a lot of new friendships and I'm impressed daily with the way that everyone continues to encourage one another. The family like atmosphere really does amaze me.What advice would you give to any new members?
Everyone in the gym has been where you are. Work hard and push yourself day in a day out. The results all depend on how much you put into it.
